Job Description

Join us as R&D Food Safety intern at our international headquarters in Utrecht starting in September 2025! In this internship, you will be responsible for conducting research and evaluating Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Allergen reduction risk when moving into the production areas across your industrial operations. This role will involve working closely with quality colleagues in central and factory functions to improve compliance and standardisation within the JDE facility network. 

This role provides hands-on experience in food safety and quality assessment, risk analysis, and the development of protocols and best practices driven by science base approach.  

Your key activities will be:

  • πŸ“š Conduct a literature review of the food safety (microbiological, allergens and chemical contaminants)/ quality to understand scientific basis for GMP and allergen movement (from canteen to production areas) practices
  • πŸ“– Understanding compliance with local, national, and international food safety and quality regulations and certification bodies when available
  • πŸ—ΊοΈ Map out current GMP and allergen movement practices including GMP audit protocols at JDE factories
  • πŸ“‘ To review any food safety or quality recalls/ incidents related to GMP and entering production areas (if any)
  • πŸ“Š Gather and analyze data related to GMP compliance, identifying areas for improvement.
  • πŸ§ͺ Determine if supporting testing is required and provide a test plan to support the best practices
  • πŸ“ Support update of the Standard Operating Procedure and training materials to be used in sessions for staff

Here's what we're looking for:

  • πŸŽ“ Academic Program: You are enrolled in a BSc or MSc program for the entirety of the internship, preferably in Food Technology/Science/Quality/Food Safety/Toxicology or related subjects.
  • πŸ’» Skillset: You possess strong MS Office skills and fluent proficiency in speaking and written English – Having some similar hands-on experience with food research activities is always a benefit.
  • πŸ’¬ Personal traits: You have a structured approach, a driven and energetic personality, excellent communication and people skills, and the ability to work both in a team and independently.
  • ⏳ Commitment: You are ready to dedicate at least 5 months to this internship, preferably from September 1st until the end of February 2026.
  • πŸ—“οΈ Availability: You can join the internship for 5 days per week, including four days in-office and one day remotely, ensuring an ideal balance between collaboration and independence.
