Job Description
We're looking for an engaging and experienced Quality Manager to lead our small Quality team at our factory in East Tamaki. This role works across both local and global teams and is accountable for all aspects of quality, including QA, QC, systems, and compliance. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, this position is a key member of the Operations Leadership team.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Providing a strong quality perspective within the plant leadership team and influencing site strategy and direction
- Leading and developing a small Quality team, providing day-to-day leadership, coaching, and support.
- Supporting production and overseeing testing of raw materials, WIP, and finished products to ensure consistent product quality
- Acting as the New Zealand food safety expert, leading HACCP programs, projects, and governance
- Ensuring all local and global quality standards and FSSC 22000 requirements are implemented, maintained, and continuously improved
- Managing internal and external audits (site and vendor) and maintaining audit readiness at all times
- Partnering with suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders to resolve quality, packaging, and supply issues
- Overseeing site quality systems, documentation, and specifications to ensure compliance and accuracy
- Monitoring, reporting, and driving improvement in quality performance, including escalation to global teams
- Leading quality CAPEX initiatives, training programs, and capability uplift across the site
Qualifications
We’re looking for someone who has the following skills and experience:
- Degree in food safety/science or similar
- Experience with FSSC 22000 and HACCP Management (advanced), and Lead Auditing Qualification
- 5+ years of experience in a similar role within FMCG / Food Manufacturing
- Superior communication (written and oral) and negotiation skills
- Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to influence effectively
- Willingness to connect with global teams (evening calls and some travel will be required)
